Mission and description
The MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival Mission and description
The MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival is a private, non-profit organization administered
by a council consisting of 16 members drawn from Montréal's artistic, economic
and tourism sectors.
MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS invites Montrealers and visitors alike to attend and take part
in the event's activities, which focus on three major themes:
1. The BMO Bank of Montreal Celebration of Light
The BMO Bank of Montreal Celebration
of Light presents, on the illuminated Festival site, free outdoor
concerts and activities with themes emphasizing light, fire and pyrotechnics. Festival
goers are invited to come warm up their winter evenings, alone or with family or
friends. Gathered around bonfires, sipping wine or hot chocolate, crowds can watch
the antics of strolling street entertainers and performers, gaze at the spellbinding
light displays, as well as dance to the beat of the free outdoor sound and light
shows, against a backdrop of the burning of the Fallas and majestic fireworks.
2. The SAQ Wine and Dine Experience presented by Air France
The The SAQ Wine and Dine Experience
presented by Air France presents hundreds of culinary, wine and
gastronomic events in some fifty of Montreal's finest dining establishments. Star
chefs from all over the globe partner up with Montreal chefs to prepare an enticing
array of festival menus. To enjoy the event in a relaxed atmosphere: the Tasting
Events and convivial meals. To feast and savor: the prestigious Gala evenings. To
master great secrets: the Great Chefs Workshops. To participate in animated discussions
and learn more about the pleasures of eating well: Conferences and Flavor Week.
3. The Sun Life Financial Performing Arts
Host to the most significant international artists and touring companies, The Sun Life Financial Performing Arts
series also brings forth Montreal's classical and contemporary music orchestras,
thaetre companies, dance troupes and museums. Held with a different theme each year
and providing the public with an opportunity for attending concerts, shows and exhibits
of superior caliber, the Festival's program of cultural events launches major premieres
and original productions, some of which later open on the international scene.
4. Other Special Events
The Festival also presents special events featuring the connections between the
BMO Bank of Montreal Celebration of Light and The SAQ Wine and Dine Experience presented
by Air France.
